Just a Little About Me

Hey guys! My name is Brianna Gelowitz. I just finished my first year of Secondary education with a major in Social Studies and a minor in English. When I am not at school, typically, I am working at my part-time job at a daycare in Regina or my private tutoring contract. During the summers, I work out at Camp Monahan as a camp counsellor which I have done for the past three summers. I love it there because of the serenity, beauty, and amazing kids I get to work with! This is just one of my many photos of Camp Monahan!

I also enjoy travelling and photography, which often go hand-in-hand. Currently, I have been to every Canadian province except Newfoundland and Labrador, though I plan on going there someday. I have also already been to Spain, Portugal, the Bahamas, and Alaska and in July 2020 I plan on going on a trip to Scotland and Ireland. This is a photo from Toledo, Spain which really fascinated me with its incredible history and architecture.

I am quite unfamiliar with educational technology because I have never seen it been used in a classroom setting and with all of my jobs working with children we have rarely, if ever, incorporated technology into their days at daycare or out at camp.

While this blog was created for my ECS 100 course, I never really understood how to use it or what to be posting about so it will be interesting learning how and what to blog about!

Lastly, follow me on twitter: @MsGelowitz.

  1. What a small world! Way back in the day I went to Camp Monahan as a camper, did Sr Challenge and completed the CIT training. I however, never ended up working there as a counselor but Monahan holds a special place in my heart. Speaking of traveling, I love it too! And I am traveling to Spain this July to meet my boyfriend’s family. So feel free to let me know what you loved about your time there!

    • Katie, it’s weird that everywhere I go I seem to find someone who has been to or been impacted by Camp Monahan in some way! You will love Spain! I spent most of my time in Barcelona and Madrid, both beautiful and diverse cities, but I must say that I really enjoyed Barcelona and it’s unique atmosphere, as well as the city’s abundance of breathtaking artwork and architecture. I think my favourite part of Barcelona was the Gothic Quarter for its history and architecture. If you get a chance, I would definitely recommend trying to take a guided tour of this area! Let me know how your trip goes!
